STUDIO ORFEO QUAGLIATA

In their respective fields, both Emma and Orfeo blend high-end design and an artisan’s dedication to craftsmanship with a contemporary take on what are both considered to be traditional art-forms. The lack of innovation in prevailing glass processes compelled Orfeo to breathe new life into the glass world by introducing several groundbreaking techniques (showcased throughout the Studio Orfeo Quagliata collections) and the w o o d p o p studio has similarly dedicated itself to experimenting with the perceived limits of how and where marquetry can be applied. So after a chance meeting in Mexico City and enthused by a shared commitment to pushing boundaries in their respective fields, they embarked on a project to combine their respective media; glass and wood, to create something never seen before; the two contrasting materials within a unified artistic context.

The w o o d p o p studio is located in Wales’ Black Mountains in the UK and Studio Orfeo Quagliata is in Mexico City making this a true modern-day collaboration.
