6'4 KOKOMO SURFBOARD
Presenting the latest marquetry 6’4 w o o d p o p surfboard. Truly an international effort having been made in workshops on both sides of the Irish Sea.
Philippe Hetier of Tonn Surfboards is the master craftsman based out of Ireland making high performance sustainable wooden surfboards. The board is carved from a solid Balsa block with a honeycomb centre which makes for a lightweight board which weighs less than your standard foam-core board with a flex that loads up and releases like nothing else!
The marquetry is dyed American Tulip which we pressed with Alen at Lignum Surf (whose meticulous attention to detail meant we could veneer the upper face of the metal leash plug (see ‘making-of’ pics). Then it was over to Tom at Stockwell Surfboards where it was glassed using a bio-resin making this a truly sound ecological alternative to your standard Polyurethane surfboard complete with custom veneered FCS II fins.
